Around Shinjuku

Michael found an area with a bunch of restaurants close to the hotel in Shinjuku. He immediately took to Himawari Sushi, a conveyor belt sushi place with really good sushi at very reasonable prices. He went back many times.

Department Stores

There were so many department stores with whole floors of beautifully arranged food. This one was taken at Isetan Shinjuku. Whenever we could find an image of a panda, we took a photo of it.

tsukemen at Rokurinsha

Rokurinsha (六厘舎) is supposed to be Tokyo’s best tsukemen (dipping ramen). We were not disappointed. They even give you a bib just in case.

Edo-Tokyo Museum

The Edo-Tokyo Museum was one of the best museums we’ve ever been to. We followed an 80-some year-old tour guide around the museum who was incredibly knowledgeable about Tokyo’s history and culture. He lived through World War II in Japan.

George Clooney

Everybody likes George Clooney. In Japan, they love him.

Around Tokyo

Statue of loyal dog Hachiko in front of Shibuya Station, the landmark intersection outside Shibuya Station, Tsujiki Fish Market, sushi at Midori (one of Michael’s favorite places for sushi ever), cute puppies in a pet shop, and sakura jelly with green tea ice cream at Coldstone.

Harajuku

Tokyo’s center for youth fashion and counter culture.

Omotesando

Tokyo’s Champs-Élysées.

Shinjuku

Shinjuku Station is the world‘s busiest railway station, and our hotel was just a few steps away. Across the way was Takashimaya.

Tsujiki Fish Market

Fish Market. Pandas.

Burnt Miso Ramen

Burnt miso ramen at Gogyo. We had to find this place in a residential district, but it was worth it!

Ginza

One of the most luxurious shopping areas in the world. The street was closed off to cars, so it was pleasantly uncrowded to walk along the street even though there were a lot of people.
