Our Thanksgiving trip to Oahu Hawaii gave us the perfect backdrop for our 2025 holiday photos. A huge thank you to Marissa HB Photography for capturing these special island memories so perfectly. We would highly recommend her both Hawaii & San Francisco shots.
Our puppy Chewie turned 9 this year we've felt he's really become very assertive this year! It's taken a bit for Victoria and me to adjust to all of his opinions and requests this year. We constantly joke around that he's like a full sized person.
Adrian turned 8 and started 3rd grade this year. He's really had a great start to the year because his new teacher has managed to connect with him in a truly meaningful way. His teacher brings an incredible mix of structure, patience, and genuine energy that clearly resonates with Adrian. Adrian also improved in basketball this year (more below).
Avery turned 5 and started kindergarten this year. He constantly surprises us with his maturity, creativity, thoughtfulness, and love for our whole family. His ability to communicate and truly participate in our family has blossomed in such a big way.
Victoria and Michael kicked off the year by visiting Spain and Stonehenge at the start of the year. It was Michael’s first time in Spain, and he was completely awestruck by the BasĂlica de la Sagrada FamĂlia. So many of the world’s great masterpieces were built centuries ago; seeing something so boldly unique and extraordinary still being created in modern times was a wonderful surprise.
It was the perfect way to begin the year, and the second decade of being together. 10 years, 1 puppy, 2 boys, 2 homes, 3 remodels, 14 countries, 1 global pandemic, 6 ER visits, 4 cars, ~350 sushi dinners, and 62 Breaking Bad episodes later... we're still here.
For spring break, we set sail with the kids on the Disney Treasure . It was pure magic, and this time Avery was old enough to really dive in and enjoy every moment (a big change from our last cruise, when he was still a bit too young for it all to click). We island-hopped through Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, explored San Juan, Puerto Rico, and wrapped up with a perfect day at Disney’s Castaway Cay.
For the first time in his career, Michael stepped away from work without immediately jumping into the next role—which gave him rare space to be with our family and focus on his health. After nearly a year and a half of weekly travel to Los Angeles, it was exactly what we needed. It turned into a truly wonderful summer for us and the kids. A few highlights from the summer:
Basketball is Adrian’s favorite sport, but at the start of the year he was having a tough time keeping up with his friends. He asked us to help him get better so with more time on his hands, Michael was able to find more opportunities for Adrian to get extra training and more reps on the court. It’s been incredible to see how much he’s grown since the summer—at one point he was playing seven times a week. He’s still a work in progress (we’re encouraging him to be more aggressive), but the improvement over the past few months has been great to see.
A few programs that have been especially great for Adrian are: Roni Naber coaching, Master the Basics and SHOM Athletics.
Victoria’s dad is an avid golfer, and we were able to get out as an extended family to play a round together. Michael and Victoria were very rusty, but squeezed in enough driving-range reps beforehand to feel (somewhat) ready. It was the nicest course either of us has ever played, and the weather was absolutely perfect.
In November, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary of living in Burlingame. It's hard to believe a decade has flown by... the longest either Victoria or Michael have ever called one place home! So grateful for the neighbors and community that have made it such a special place to raise our family.
Thank you Real Estate Burt for helping us find this home a decade ago.
For our Thanksgiving Trip, we split our time between Waikiki and Aulani and the children especially loved the poke, shaved ice, and water activities. One of the top activities that we did was to do a sunrise hike to the top of Diamond Head volcanic crater. It was a fairly strenuous hike but surprisingly both kids didn't complain too much on the way up.
The 4 days we spent at Aulani was a really great experience for the kids as well. Overall both Adrian and Avery really loved Hawaii and requested that we return again soon.
